Reminds me of a personal story. Once upon a time I delivered band equipment to a friend. He was a good chef. It was lunchtime and he offered a cup of soup. Temporarily forgetting he was the insane front man for a rock band I neglected to ask if the mushrooms were button or psilocbin. I made it home safely and he spent a few years apologizing.

Hah. What a great friend to have!

I did this once. My husband found me on the porch looking into a cup of water saying--'there's a space alien in the water.'

I wanted to try it again but I haven't had the guts or the time yet. (I thought when weed was legalized, I would go to town after many years of never but then I forgot! How said is THAT?)

It was not a good experience. I'm not one to keep grudges, but I've got one with him now. He should have made sure not to overdose his inexperienced best friend. He no longer gets to play pharmacist with me, but I still love him.

I was responsible to understand how edibles work too, and I failed spectacularly.

The rule with edibles is 10mg is plenty. Take it on an empty stomach otherwise the effects will be delayed and prolonged. Liquids are fastest acting, but the digestive system does not operate like lungs! And of course, don't drive!

Yeah, I think my space alien in the water was 10 mg. It was an accident as it was one that got mixed in with much lower dosed ones.

That’s way too much!!!

I enjoyed the experience though. It was very funny. I cannot handle my drugs very well if I do them with any regularity. I really gotta watch it. Luckily, it wears off —but my brain has a kind of delicate balance going on so I have to be careful.

However, I have always loved substances. I like weird stuff to happen to me. It simply has to be a once or twice a year sort of thing as there’s a bit of recovery time while my brain re-sets.

Oh, good reminder about the empty stomach.

Good reminder that everyone has different physical and psychological tolerances.

If 10mg was too much for you, imagine ten times the dose! And that's the low end possibilities of what I took. Luckily, previous experience with psychedelics prepared me emotionally to deal with a THC overdose. But there were physical consequences too. I don't consider weed a true psychedelic, but it gets lumped in often.

Repeated overdosing of THC can lead to big trouble: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabinoid_hyperemesis_syndrome

Yes, your friend gave you WAY TOO MUCH. I cannot IMAGINE. You don’t say what thoughts you had when you got home —do you even remember?

I don't remember much. Just that I was on the edge of panic because of increasing disassociation. From the moment I knew I was in trouble to when I fell asleep was less than an hour. Not a much time to fall down disturbing rabbit holes of perception. It still felt like eternity.

Sleep saved me from a lot of mental anguish.
